HKPAPA SPL student pilots had the rare opportunity to join a professional visit to AVSECO, organised by Airpilots (Hong Kong Region), alongside active Airbus and Boeing airline captains. The visit offered our students direct exposure to airport operations normally restricted to industry professionals — from the elite dog unit to the Integrated Airport Control Centre and the latest Terminal 2 security technologies.
Learning beside veteran airline captains also meant real-time mentoring. Our students gained insights into how safety, security, and airport management integrate to support Hong Kong’s development as a global aviation hub.
Our student pilot Joy Lo Cheung, shared:
“Seeing how Hong Kong enhances security, technology, and coordination gives me great confidence in the future of our aviation industry. The mentoring from professional captains helped connect what we learn in training with the real operational world we aspire to join.”
“This visit showed me what professionalism really looks like in aviation. It makes me even more determined to become a pilot.” — Ankita Mishra, HKPAPA SPL Student Pilot
For HKPAPA, this experience reflects our mission: our SPL and pilot development programmes are not just courses — they provide industry access, professional culture, and opportunities the public cannot obtain. Hong Kong aviation is entering a new era, and HKPAPA is proud to help prepare the next generation of aviators for it.
