Holding patterns

01:00

Practise an established racetrack and review your flight path.

THE QUICK BRIEF
  1. Fly a right-hand hold at the fictional LAB fix, using a 360-degree inbound course and one-minute inbound legs. Select the leg phase to start its timer.
  2. Begin with calm wind. Establish a consistent turn, then compare your inbound timing and ground track. Introduce wind only after the controls are familiar.
  3. The dashed racetrack is a no-wind reference, not protected airspace. Correct altitude alone does not demonstrate correct hold geometry.
Session format

Starts established at the fix. Entry procedures are described, not simulated as an assessed entry task. Real clearances and current published procedures govern flight.
