ILS approach

LOCG/S

Practise localizer and glideslope interpretation.

THE QUICK BRIEF
  1. Intercept a fictional runway localizer and adjust vertical speed to follow a modelled three-degree glide path.
  2. Use small bank changes toward the localizer indication and review vertical deviation separately. The model starts eight nautical miles south of a fictional runway.
  3. Large corrections can create oscillation. Wind changes groundspeed and therefore the descent rate required for a given path.
Session format

Bank, vertical-speed and airspeed sliders; optional wind. Fictional signals, no terrain, no radio tuning and no flare. Not an approved flight-training device.
